4) Take a soft brush (baby toothbrush) and wet it with distilled water. Brush the areas on the motherboard which has not been cleaned by the can of compressed air. Scrub gentle to avoid any damage to the hardware components of a motherboard. Do not use tap water to clean your motherboard because the minerals in water could cause build-up or damage to the motherboard components.

5) If there are some sticky substances or dirt that cannot be removed by the soft brush, then you have to use a liquid cleaner. Do not spray liquid cleaner directly onto the motherboard, as it will cause any damage. You take a cotton swab and moisten it with rubbing alcohol. Gently wipe it on a sticky substance. The alcohol will help to remove sticky dirt and also it evaporates quickly.

6) Allow the motherboard to dry properly or completely before reinstalling.

7) Lastly, re-install the motherboard back into the computer case but before doing this dont forget to attach all the fans or other components you removed before you started cleaning process.

1) Use compressed air to speed the evaporation of rubbing alcohol spots created in step five.

2) Do not attempt to clean your computers motherboard while it is plugged in to a live power supply. Doing this would damage your machine.

3) Do not remove the heat sink and fan unit from the computer when cleaning motherboard.
